At this week's Itasca County Board of Commissioners' meeting, County Administrator Skyles discussed the impact of the Federal Government shutdown on Itasca County. With states being notified that SNAP benefits will more than likely not be going out in November, the County website has added resources, information, and links to help reduce the potential impact on Itasca County residents. On the county website, you can find links for updates on the shutdown from the Minnesota Department of Children, Youth, and Families, as well as Hunger Solutions. Second Harvest Northland is another good resource, their website features a Find Food map that allows you to search by location.Â

November’s SNAP and MFIP food benefits will not be issued until the federal government shutdown ends or we receive more guidance from the federal government. MFIP cash benefits will be issued as normal.
Â
If you are receiving benefits, please continue to use them as usual. Keep your contact information up to date with your county or Tribal Nation so you can continue to receive updates.
Â
Individuals and families can continue to apply for benefits. Applying now will help your application move quickly when the federal government reopens.
