UTV Crash Near Buhl

Authorities in the Iron Range are investigating a crash involving a side-by-side U-T-V that left a woman from Blaine dead. The St. Louis County Sheriff’s Office says a pickup rear-ended the U-T-V on Friday afternoon near Buhl. Deputies say a 61-year-old female passenger suffered life-threatening injuries and later died in the hospital. The report says the U-T-V was driven by a 15-year-old girl from Coon Rapids.

Drowning at Otter Tail Lake

The Otter Tail Sheriff’s Office reports a drowning on the northwest side of Otter Tail Lake when a 63-year-old man fell from the pontoon into the water. David Kantrud of Fergus Falls was on a pontoon with family Saturday afternoon when he fell into the water attempting to retrieve an item from the lake. Occupants from a nearby pontoon assisted in recovering Kantrud. Resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, and Kantrud was pronounced dead on the scene. He was not wearing a life jacket.
