Plane Crash Near the McGregor Airport Sends Three to the Hospital

There was a small plane crash near the McGregor Airport on Sunday afternoon. The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office received 911 calls regarding the crash shortly before 430. First responders were dispatched and located the crash approximately 1⁄2 mile southeast of the McGregor Airport.
There were three adults on board. One passenger was life flighted for treatment, and the two others were transported by ground to Riverwood Hospital in Aitkin. Initial information indicates that the plane, a Piper PA-28 140, lost power shortly after takeoff and was attempting to return to the McGregor Airport when it went down in a swampy area short of the runway.
The three occupants of the plane have been identified as, Kaden Brazinsky, 23, of Ham Lake; Wyatt Sherry, 22, of New Richmond; and Jocelyn Erlandson, 23, of Ham Lake. All three occupants have been treated for their injuries and are in stable condition.
The Aitkin County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by McGregor First Responders, McGregor Fire Department, North Ambulance, Cromwell-Wright Ambulance, and the Minnesota State Patrol.
