Gigazone Plans Upgrade

On September 18, 2014 a special announcement ceremony was held at our Cooperative Headquarters in Bemidji to reveal plans to build one of the first and largest rural all-fiber optic gigabit networks in the country right here in northern Minnesota. The GigaZone network now serves over 6,000 square miles and offers Internet speeds up to 10 Gig.  The network has been instrumental in supporting local economic growth, remote education, telehealth services, and countless other community initiatives. The network's robust performance has proven essential during the recent global pandemic, enabling seamless remote work and learning experiences for over 30,000 homes and businesses. Unfortunately, many areas across the country still rely on outdated infrastructure, leading to slower internet speeds, frequent outages, and limited service capabilities. This lack of progress underscores the importance of our cooperative’s forward-thinking approach and we continue to expand each year to bring this much needed connectivity to more underserved homes and businesses.
