DPS Click It or Ticket

Writer: Tony SchmidTony Schmid

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety recently coordinated the "Click It or Ticket" campaign, an enforcement and awareness effort to encourage seatbelt use across the state. The one-week campaign ran from September 15 to 21, 2024, during which law enforcement officers from 257 agencies issued over 1,000 citations for seat belt violations and 48 citations for child restraint violations. The campaign is part of the broader "Toward Zero Deaths" initiative aimed at reducing fatalities and serious injuries on Minnesota roads. The campaign highlights that while many Minnesotans do buckle up, a significant number still neglect this safety measure. Tragically, there have been 78 unbelted fatalities so far in 2024. Law enforcement emphasizes that seat belt usage is essential for reducing crash-related injuries and fatalities.
