6th Graders Participate in Fun Run 5K

Robert J Elkington Middle School in Grand Rapids

Robert J Elkington 6th graders participated in the Fun Run 5k yesterday in Grand Rapids. Students were set off in waves of runners that took them on a route down past the Fairgrounds where they did a loop twice and then back up to 11th Ave NE where it led to the finish line in the middle of the front lawn of the middle school where volunteers were waiting with snacks and drinks.

The goal of the 5k was not to be first but to complete the challenge. The Grand Rapids Thunderhawk Cross Country Team participated as well but showing leadership throughout the groups of students as well as showing enthusiasm and encouragement during the event. Even staff members got into the event by showing their support by running and walking in the event with their students. Hugs and high fives were seen throughout the front lawn of the school by family, friends, students and staff of the middle school.
