Press Release from the Grand Rapids Police Department
WOMAN ARRESTED FOR ARMED ROBBERY
Grand Rapids Police Officers arrested a 25-year-old Deer River woman on the afternoon of October 10, 2014 for Armed Robbery. According to Grand Rapids Police Chief Scott Johnson, Grand Rapids Police Officers and Itasca County Sheriff’s Deputies received a call at 4:05 PM that a female, armed with a handgun, had just robbed Stokes Printing. Stokes printing is located at 421 NW 1st Avenue in Grand Rapids. Officers and two deputies arrived within one minute of the time of the call. They learned that a female fitting the description of the robber was seen entering Reeds Drugs.
Officers checked the drugstore and then began checking the Central Square Mall asking merchants in the mall to lock their doors. Grand Rapids Police Officer Michelle Norris and Grand Rapids Police Officer Troy Scott located the woman near the restrooms where she was taken into custody. A pistol was found in the woman’s waistband and an undisclosed quantity of cash was found on her person.
“This was exemplary police work by the dispatchers, officers and deputies.” said Chief Johnson. “Everyone worked together as a team and an arrest was made within ten minutes of the time the crime was committed.”
At the time of this press release, the Grand Rapids Police Department has not released the name of the woman. She is being booked into the Itasca County Jail.
