Three people were arrested after a high speed chase through Grand Rapids on Thursday afternoon.
An Itasca County Sheriff’s Deputy and Grand Rapids Police attempted to make a traffic stop, suspecting the occupants of a vehicle were involved in an attempted burglary south of Grand Rapids. At the intersection of Highways 2 and 169, officers attempted to stop the vehicle. The vehicle sped away, traveling west on Highway 2 to Cohasset. The suspect vehicle then turned south on County Road 62, west on County Road 63, and north on Highway 6. When the vehicle turned north on Highway 6. Itasca County Sheriff’s deputies deployed tire deflation spikes. As the tires deflated, the vehicle slowed down to 70 miles an hour and the driver lost control. Three people, including the driver, were taken into custody.
Suspects were seen throwing items from the vehicle at a number of locations. Law enforcement found the items. Charges are expected
