A Hibbing man was arrested for threatening two Grand Rapids high school students with a gun on school property Monday afternoon. 19 year old Seth Matthew James Nelson appeared in Itasca county District Court on Tuesday. He’s charged with the felony charges of felon in possession of a firearm, assault in the second degree, terroristic threats, and possession of a dangerous weapon on school property. The charges stem from an apparent road rage incident in the school parking lot, that continued down Highway 38, and ended with Nelson waving a gun at the students at the intersection of Highway 38 and 4th Street Northwest in Grand Rapids.  The students say Nelson followed them to the intersection, showed them a handgun, and threatened to shoot them.

The kids reported the incident to police. Officers located and stopped the suspect near the school. In his car they found a .22 caliber handgun. Nelson’s bail was set at $100,000 without conditions or $50,000 with conditions.

Nelson’s next court appearance is set for March 31st.
