The 39th annual Grand Rapids American Legion Invitational returns to Legion Field and Portage Park in Cohasset beginning on Friday.

This year’s tournament features another strong field of 10 teams. A total of 20 games will be played on Friday and Saturday with five each day at both Portage Park and Legion Field. Grand Rapids will cap off play on Friday and Saturday night with games at 5 and 7:30 p.m. at Legion Field.

The Orange Pool consists of Grand Rapids, Alexandria, Fridley Gold, Richfield and St. Michael-Albertville. The Black pool features Bemidji, Edina, Elk River, New Ulm Gold and North St. Paul.

On Friday at Legion Field, Elk River will take on Bemidji followed by Edina squaring off with Bemidji. Elk River will follow with a game against New Ulm Gold while Fridley Gold and Richfield will take on Grand Rapids in the final two contests.

At Portage Park, St. Michael-Albertville will take on Alexandria followed by Fridley Gold facing off with Alexandria. Richfield and St. Michael-Albertville will do battled at 2:30 p.m. with the evening sessions featuring Edina vs. North St. Paul and New Ulm Gold vs. North St. Paul.

Action continues on Saturday at Legion Field with New Ulm Gold taking on Edina. Bemidji will battle with North St. Paul at 12 noon. At 2:30 p.m., Fridley Gold will take on St. Michael-Albertville. Action continues at 5 p.m. with Alexandria taking on Grand Rapids and St. Michael-Albertville squaring off with Grand Rapids at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday’s action at Portage Park features Fridley Gold taking on Richfield while Alexandria takes on Richfield. Elk River will battle with Edina while Bemidji takes on New Ulm Gold. North St. Paul closes play with Elk River.

The tournament concludes on Sunday with semifinal games beginning at 9:30 a.m. and 12 noon. The championship game will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.
