The combined Virginia-Mountain Iron- Buhl- Eveleth- Gilbert school has some funding. The $440 million tax bill Governor Dayton signed into law Friday provides funding for a cooperatively operated school account. The new revenue will come from taconite taxes, mining taxes and a three- year allocation from the Taconite Environmental Protection Fund.
State Senator David Tomassoni said the account will help fund the project. If it goes forward, the project would create a combined 7th through 12th grade school.
