A New 48 unit housing project has been proposed for land south of Grand Rapids. Tuesday, the Itasca County Housing Institute proposed a new housing project to the Itasca County Board of Commissioners. The project would include one, two, and three bedroom homes. The Itasca County Housing and Redevelopment Authority would own 75 percent and Northland Counseling 25 percent.
All of the residents would meet the definition of long-term homeless.
10-12 units would be designated to provide supportive services for individuals with disabilities, including mental illness and chemical dependency. This portion of the complex will have 24-hour on-site supervision and supports.
The county attorney will meet with the group this week to discuss the project.
