The most anticipated day in the history of
Toy Day finally arrived. The idea was to make a Jello mold of Erins
face, using the Eat Yer Face Gelatin mold kit, which was basically
instructions and a baggie of Silica powder. The idea was simple.
Stick her face thru a hole in cardboard, give her straws to breathe
thru, pour the goop on her face, it sets in two minutes, remove, let
harder and tah-dah...the next day you can make Jello in it that looks
like her face! If you were listening, you know what happened! To
help you visualize....
Tim stands ready to mix and pour.
He carefully helps Erin protect her hair
from seeping goo with plastic wrap
Erin checks the fit of the cardboard and
the breathing straws
The batter is briskly mixed...Tim thinks
"I wish I had a whisk"
Testing and mixing continue..everything is
a GO!
The batter begins to pour
More and more....
Soon, Erin realizes that she's lost a
breathing straw and her nose is filling with goo. Without being able
to see or breathe, survival becomes the priority and Tim hastily
helps her up (while hardly even laughing) to help her to the
sink.
Where the already setting up mask is
removed, as extra, un-set goop oozes all over the place
OK, so it ain't no Jello mold, but it IS a
rather startling likeness, don't you think?
Cleaning up the goop spots from the
carpet.
This could actually work. If Erin hadn't
lost a nostril straw (that sounds gross, doesn't it) the rest of the
goop could have been applied, and it was setting up quickly and we
would have had a Jello mold. We may try again, only this time, we'll
make a mold of her hand! If you wanna try it yourself visit the
Special
Effects Cookbook people.
