My
name is Jason Groth and I'm the Sports Director and a co-host of the
Morning Mess on KOZY. I was born and raised in Cloquet, Minnesota and
got my start in the media business when I was in high school. I helped
the local paper as well as the local radio station while in high
school. While in Cloquet, I played baseball for the Lumberjacks. After
high school, I attended Bemidji State University and became the Sports
Director for KBSU-TV, FM-90 and was the Sports Editor for the Northern
Student. While at Bemidji State, I received my Bachelor of Science
degree in Mass Communications and a minor in Sports Management. From
there, I stayed on Highway 2 and got my first job as the Sports Editor
for the Grand Rapids Herald-Review, where I spent seven years as the
Sports Editor covering Grand Rapids, Greenway, Bigfork, Deer River and
ICC sports. I got the itch for radio when I heard KOZY/KMFY had an
opening for a play-by play announcer and I did that for two years
before being hired full-time in the role that I am in now.
I'm a huge sports fan and love
watching all sports. I'll admit my allegiances are across the board as
I'm a huge Green Bay Packer fan, New York Yankee fan and a Kansas
Jayhawk fan. I have strong family ties in the state of Kansas and love
visiting the KU campus in Lawrence, Kansas. I enjoy broadcasting
sports, bringing you all the latest sports news from the local scene to
the national scene as well as being a co-host on the Morning Mess.
