On a slim 3-2 margin, the Itasca County Board of Commissioners voted to accept the criminal prosecution services for the city of Nashwauk. The county already prosecutes Nashwauk’s felony cases. County Attorney Matti Adam told the board that the city of Nashwauk has already approved the use of the county’s services.
Commissioner Terry Snyder told the board that he had concerns about taking a job away from the private sector.
On a 3-2 vote, Commissioners Snyder and Ives the dissenting votes. Adam estimated about 10 cases a month and said her department could handle the extra work without adding staff. The agreement only runs through the end of the year.
