The teen charged with leading law enforcement on a high speed chase on July 4th of last year has entered a plea in Itasca County District Court. Eighteen year old Grant Gunderson has been charged with five felonies and two misdemeanors stemming from the incident that took place in portions of the county and city of Grand Rapids. At a plea hearing in District Court on Thursday February 13th Gunderson plead guilty to the charge of felony fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle and the misdemeanor charge of 4th degree driving while impaired. The court ordered a pre-disposition investigation to be prepared and set a sentencing hearing for March 19th at 9 AM. County Attorney Jack Muhar stated, in response to Gunderson’s guilty plea, “The defendants actions put many lives at risk and thankfully no one was hurt or killed as a result. The use of drugs played a significant role in the defendant’s behavior in the incident. This case is a chilling reminder to the community of the danger of drugs.”
