Freezing water lines are still a problem. The long period of freezing temperatures is affecting water supply lines in our area. Residents in Bovey are being told to leave a water faucet running at about a pencil size stream (1/4 gal a minute) to prevent the freeze up from occurring. An indicator of an impending water service freeze up is the temperature of the water coming into your home. If it is 40 degrees or below, after allowing it to run a few minutes, you may have a problem, the frost line could be getting close to your water lines. The frost line has gotten deeper than usual because of the long stretch of below freezing weather we have been experiencing. One school in Grand Rapids and the District 318 Maintenance Facility have experienced water problems this year.
