A federal judge has sentenced the former superintendent of the Shakopee School District to 24 months in prison for soliciting bribes from a company in exchange for contracts with the district. Prosecutors say 53-year-old Rodney Thompson received more than 44 thousand dollars in home improvements, plus personal travel and access to sporting events. Rod Thompson previously worked as the Detroit Lakes High School principal and superintendent at Greenway School District. U-S Attorney Erica MacDonald says the violations occurred during Thompson’s entire time with the Shakopee School District and his “greedy and corrupt dealings have earned him a prison sentence.”
