Having a long driveway with a canopy of trees overhead may be picturesque- but it almost cost a Mountain Iron family their home.
According to a story from Northland’s NewsCenter, a home in Mountain Iron lost power. When the owner tried to reconnect it, it sparked a blaze. Firefighters were unable to bring equipment to the home because of the driveway configuration. The Department of Natural Resources was called in because the fire spread into a nearby woods.
It took over two and a half hours to put out the fire.
