A fatal officer-involved shooting is under investigation in Bemidji.
It happened last night just before 11 pm when a Bemidji officer pulled a vehicle over and confirmed that one of the passengers had a felony warrant. As the passenger was exiting the vehicle, an officer noticed a handgun and when the officer tried to take the gun, a struggle ensued. The officer and an assisting deputy fired their weapons and struck the suspect, who died at the scene. NO other injuries were reported. The handgun was recovered from the scene. The officer was wearing a body camera.
The officer and deputy involved have been placed on standard administrative leave.
