Will Bovey residents stand for household water meters? During a city council meeting last week the Bovey City Council set a date for a public hearing to gather public input on the possible installation of water meters. City Maintenance Supervisor Kevin Odden told the council that he was still in the process of gathering information on costs. Bonding has been discussed as a possible mechanism for funding, although a final decision has yet to be made. Some councilors have reported hearing public concern about the cost of meter installation, Mayor Mike Bibich asserted that metering water usage would result in more equitable billing. He said “Why should you pay for someone else’s water use?” The city plans to distribute more information to residents about the meters through the March utility billing.
